Fetting, Jerome Benedict “Jerry” (23 April 1939 – 20 January 2009)

Jerome “Jerry” Benedict Fetting, 69, passed away suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009, at his winter home in Mansfield, LA.

He was born April 23, 1939, in Arcadia to Norbert and Eleanor (Glanzer) Fetting. He was a 1957 graduate of Arcadia High School. He married Dorothy Ryan June 20, 1959, in Arcadia. They lived in La Crosse for many years and were later divorced. He married Kenlynn McCormick Aug. 16, 1991, in Lansing, IA, and took residence in Black River Falls.

Jerome retired from Dairyland Power Cooperative, La Crosse, in 2001 after almost 37 years with the title of SR/WA – International Right of Way Association and was the president of Badger Chapter 17, International Right of Way Association in 2000.

Following his retirement, Jerome and Kenlynn purchased property in Mansfield, LA, to escape the harsh Wisconsin winter and spend time with extended family members.

He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge for 48 years. He had been a member of the Zor Shriners and the Zor Oriental Band. He had been a member of the Arcadia Masonic Lodge, F& A.M. He was a current member and past master of Onalaska Lodge #214, F& A.M., and also was a current member and past master of Black River Lodge #74, F&A.M. He was a member and past president of God’s Country Chapter of Muskies, Inc.

Jerome was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying the camaraderie of deer hunting, dove hunting in Texas, fishing, duck hunting or simply shooting the breeze with friends and strangers alike. Along with hunting, he enjoyed cooking for everybody and camping with family and friends. He was involved with the Jackson County Beef Feed for several years. He also enjoyed spending time with and was especially proud of his grandchildren.

Jerome is survived by his wife and children, David (Patty) Fetting of Stoddard and Jim Fetting and Amy Fetting, both of La Crosse; stepsons, Tom McCormick and Matt (Cindy) McCormick, both of Black River Falls; mother-in-law, Rose Parker of Black River Falls; brother-in-law, Byron (Carolyn) Parker of Lake Arthur, LA; and five grandchildren, Lisa (fiancé Brandon Ulberg) and Derek Fetting and Madysen, Jackson and Parker McCormick.

He is further survived by his sisters, Janet (Donald) Justin, Joanne (Gary) Galewski, Judy (Larry) Gautsch and Jane (Tom) Enslin; and one brother, John (Rita Bechly) Fetting.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, James.

Masonic funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, 11 a.m. at Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Past Master Dan McKeeth officiated. Burial followed in Trout Run Cemetery, Town of Irving. Family and friends were invited for visitation Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Buswell Funeral Home. Family and friends were also invited for visitation Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Buswell Funeral Home of Black River Falls assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences are available at www.buswellfuneralhome.com.

Memorials may be given to the Onalaska Lodge #214, F&A.M., or the Black River Lodge #74, F&A.M.

“What’s the good word with you?” and “Keep smilin’,” were trademark phrases of Jerome’s. His clichés and presence will be sadly missed by all.
