Olsen, Vern A. (9 AUG 1919 – 26 APR 1999)

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - Vern A. Olsen, 79, formerly erf 130 Eighth St, N., Wisconsin Rapids, died April 26, 1999, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards.

Funeral services will be at 11 am. Wednesday at Higgins Funeral Home. The Rev. Raddatz Kent will officiate.

Burial, with military rights, will be held at the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery

Visitation will be from 10 am until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Olsen was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Loyal to Christian and Julia (nee Dyre) Olsen. He married Alvira Stayton in Greenwood on Oct 16, 1943. She died Sept 17, 1987.

He served during World War II in the infantry division of the United States Army as a mechanic in the European/African/Middle Eastern campaign.

He worked as a tool and die maker for Keamey-Trecker Manufacturing Co. in West Allis, retiring in 1979, and lived in the Wisconsin Rapids area for the past 15 years.

Survivors include his sister; Ella Stevens of Sun Prairie; four brothers, Howard (I1a) Olsen of Greenwood; Arthur (Beverly) Olsen and John (Gladen) Olsen, all of Loyal; and Floyd (Beverly) Olsen of New London, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.AC
