Fryza-Girard, Delores J. (14 DEC 1931 – 18 SEP 2019)

Delores J. Fryza-Girard, age 87, of Thorp passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held, at the church, on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.

Delores Jean Ruda was born on December 14, 1931, in rural Thorp, WI, the daughter of John and Sophie (Obrycki) Ruda. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Yaeger Country School. Later, Delores moved to Chicago to work. She met Edmund Fryza and they were married on December 2, 1950, at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church in Lublin. They farmed in the Town of Roosevelt for many years until Edmund's death in 1984. Delores then sold the farm and moved to Thorp. While living in Thorp, Delores worked as a cook at the Zastrow Care Center in Gilman and later did home health care in Eau Claire. In addition to working full time, Delores managed to earn her GED, a feat she and her family were very proud of. She was united in marriage to Robert Girard on April 12, 1997, at the Community Alliance Church in Withee. After Robert's passing in 2011, Delores continued to live in the area until moving to Oakbrook Health & Rehab where she resided until her death.

Delores had many interests, but she especially enjoyed playing "smear", solving word search puzzles, and listening & dancing to polka music. She was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church and its Ladies Aid.

She is survived by four children: Linda Ramirez of Menomonie, Gloria Nissen of Lublin, Jeff (Diane) Fryza of Lublin, and Lori Alger (Dave Lutz) of Thorp; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Lucy Ruda of Merrlllan, WI & Helen Curoso of Chicago, IL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands: Edmund and Robert; her son, Gary M. Fryza on January 30, 1974; two brothers: Walter & Edward Ruda; and two sisters: Rose Szymoniak & Irene Nelson.
