Kunze, Carl A. (29 Mar. 1923 - 17 Dec. 2008)

Carl A. Kunze, 85, Arpin, died Wed., Dec. 17, 2008, at Bethel Center, Arpin.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Sat. Dec. 20, 2008, at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The visitation will be held Sat. from 9:30 a.m. until service time at St. James Catholic Church. Rembs' Funeral Home (300 S. Oak Ave. - Marshfield, WI), Marshfield, is assisting the family.

Carl was born March 29, 1923, in Jamestown, N.D., to Carl and Nellie (Smull) Kunze. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He married Lorraine I. Mathewson on March 21, 1947, in Bridgeport, Conn. He and his wife farmed in the town of Carson until retirement. They then moved to Arpin.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Arpin; and a son, Carl R. (Diane) Kunze of Arpin. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Robert (Angie) Kunze of Madison, Rhonda (Brad) Vilbaum of Wisconsin Rapids, and Rachelle Kunze of Arpin; and by three great-grandchildren, Trevor and Tyson Vilbaum and Ellianna Kunze. He is further survived by five sisters, Myrtle Krayler of Jamestown, N.D., Muriel Dassinger of Dickinson, N.D., Marcella (James) Koch of Bismarck, N.D., Elizabeth Kunze of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Margaret Biddle of Palatine, Ill.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
