Hansen, Lorraine (Marriage - 17 Jan. 1942)

Now at home to friends in Marshfield are Mr. and Mrs. Otto Helmke, who were married at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran church, by the Rev. Gerhardt Reiff on Saturday afternoon, January 17, at a 4 o’clock candlelight ceremony. Mrs. Helmke was given in marriage by her father.

The bride is the former Lorraine Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hansen, and the groom the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Helmke, all of Marshfield.

For the ceremony the bride chose a gown of pastel pink wool with blue accessories and wore a corsage of roses. Standing beside her was Mrs. George Miller, Unity, as matron of honor. With her beige wool dress she wore a corsage and blue accessories. Miss Charlotte Hustedt, Nasonville, bridesmaid, wore a blue wool dress, beige hat, and a corsage.

George Miller, cousin of the groom, and Verlyn Ebert, cousin of the bride, attended the groom. Clarence Ebert, uncle of the bride, and Lester Schalow, brother-in-law of the groom, ushered.

Mrs. Gerhardt Reiff, accompanied by the Rev. Henry Dageford, sang, “At Cana Lord Thou Didst Appear” and “My Task.”

A reception for the wedding party was held at the Hotel Charles following the ceremony.

Mrs. Helmke is a graduate of the Marshfield high school and has been employed at Normington’s Laundry. The groom, a graduate of the same school, is employed at the Roddis plant.

Out-of-town guests included Mr. and Mrs. Katzenmaier and son, St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. George Miller and William Miller, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. August Helmke, William Helmke, and Mrs. Mary Helmke and son, Billy, March Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Schalow and children, McMillan; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ebert and children, Arpin; Miss Mamie Knohr, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hansen and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hansen, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hustedt, Nasonville; and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Jensen, Wisconsin Rapids.
