The annual meeting of the Old Settlers Picnic Association was held in the
Woodman Hall (Loyal, Clark Co., Wis.) on Friday, September 3rd, 1915. A good
number of old settlers attended and enjoyed themselves telling stories of
the olden days and visiting.
The business session as called to order at 2:30 o’clock, and the following
officers were elected for the ensuing year:
- President, Wm. McKenzie
- Secretary, F.W. Draper
- Treasurer, A. R. Miles
The following program was carried out:
- Instrumental Solo, Bernice Draper
- Lord’s Prayer in Concert
- Reading, Mrs. Wm. Mills
- Recitation, Mrs. Walter Mack
- Song – America
- Recitation, Miss Delight Mills
- Ladies Quartet, Mrs. Powell, Mrs. Barnett, Mrs. A. Jenks, Mrs. Dr. Miller
The following Resolutions were read and adopted.
1. Whereas the Old Settlers of Loyal and Vicinity are wont to assemble
annually to recall earlier days of toil and pleasure, and thus to strengthen
friendship’s bonds, and
2. Whereas such custom has so drawn us together and so accustomed us to look
forward to this gathering, anticipating certain faces and voices, and
3. Whereas within a lapse of but two short years, there have passed, in
answer to our Father’s call, out from among us, leaving but a sacred memory
with us here today, the following, who memory we cherish: Mr. Wm. Welsh, Mr.
Martin Visgar, Mr. Albert Fuchs, Mr. James Richmond, Mr. Charley Witt, Mr.
Hiram Barnett, Mr. James Devlin, Mr. M. C. Ring, Mrs. Jane Visgar, Mrs.
Maria Mack, Mrs. Liza Barber, Mrs. Margaret Noble, Mrs. Mary Mulvey, Mrs.
Betsy McKenzie, Mrs. Mariah Leatherdale, Mrs. Loretta Cook, and
4. Whereas it is greatly through the assistance and counsel of these now
departed friends, that our organization has reached its present state;
therefore
5. Be it resolved that we, the old friends and co-laborers, thus express our
sense of loss in fellowship, and grief for absent friends; and further
6. Be it resolved that we , the younger ones who reap the blessings of their
lives in our midst do sorely miss the greetings which they brought us on
these days; and do appreciate the legacy their labor has left us; and
further
7. Be it resolved that a copy of these resolutions be placed in our minutes
as a token of our kindly remembrance of them at all times we thus assemble.
