Bethel, Wisconsin Local News

"Therefore be ye also ready; for Co such an hour as ye think not the Son ni man cometh." Matt. 22: 44.

Prof. Gardner and sons have done a skillful piece of grading in front of the ladies dormitory of the Academy.

The faculty of Bethel Academy has been augmented by the arrival of Mr. Kimball, of South Lancaster, Mass. Mr. Kimball has just come from a visit to Emmanuel Missionary college, Berrien Springs, Mich.

In one of the electric storms, last week, a strange occurrence took place. The lightning struck a building, in which was a box containing dynamite, demolishing the box, without exploding the dynamite. This occurred on Mr. J. C. McChesney's place.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Wood were called last -week to the deathbed of his father, residing near Twin Bluffs or Lime Ridge, Wis. Mrs. John M. Phillips, Mr. Wood's sister, accompanied them. The elderly gentleman's death occurred before they arrived.

Eld. Hoffman has been in Bethel for a few days holding a consultation with Eld. W. H. Thurston in regard to locating a site for the Bethel church school. He occupied the pulpit in the Bethel church last Sabbath. His subject was "Will it (Christianity) pay?" which he answered in the affirmative, giving one or two interesting personal experiences of his own.

As more recitation room is required in Bethel academy, it has been decided to remove the Primary department, which is simply the neighborhood church school into a building by itself. Accordingly a meeting was called in the Bethel church, at 8 P. M. last Saturday evening, in which twelve members of the S. D. A. school here were chosen to locate a site for a school building the next morning. At the meeting of the committee, yesterday morning, it was decided to move a nearby building on a site a few rods south of the Bethel store, and fit it up in a workmanlike and attractive manner, and locate the school there. As this is an emergency requiring promptness, the work on the building and ground will begin immediately.
