Voigt, Joyce E. (5 Jan. 1923 - 24 Feb. 2009)

Joyce E. Voigt, 86, died peacefully early Tues. morning, Feb. 24, 2009, at the House of the Dove, with her daughters at her side and under the tender care of Ministry Home Hospice.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Sat. Feb. 28, 2009, at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tricia Turner and Rev. Bob Lesher will officiate. Maldon Plank will serve as organist with Joyce's granddaughter, Becky Rogers, as soloist.

Burial will be in Brooklawn Memory Garden Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jim Voigt, Allen Severin, Neil Fritz, John Weber, David Mielke, Todd Luepke and Sully Luepke.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Fri., Feb. 27, 2009, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Marshfield, and one hour prior to service time at the church Sat.

Mrs. Voigt was born on Jan. 5, 1923, in Marshfield, the daughter of George and Alma (Drackley) Kiesling. Joyce attended Three Oaks Elementary School and graduated from Marshfield High School in 1941.

Joyce was united in holy marriage to Earl Voigt on June 10, 1942. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage. Earl preceded Joyce in death on Dec. 8, 2007.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother, Joyce worked alongside her husband milking cows and assisting with the daily farming operations. In retirement, the couple enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives.

Mrs. Voigt was active in 4-H, serving as leader for many years. She fondly remembered teaching children how to sew, knit and crochet, as well as trips with the group to Washington, D.C., and Missouri.

Joyce was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and former Sun.school teacher at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, the Lindsey Larks and Nasonville Neighbors Homemakers Clubs. She also helped organize the Happy Hobby Club.

She is lovingly survived by her daughters, Lorraine Rogers and Karen Voigt, both of Marshfield; grandchildren, Mary Kay (Allen) Severin and Becky Rogers, as well as one great-grandson, Arron; sisters, Jean (Arnie) Fritz, Wisconsin Rapids and Irene Gehm, Wausau, further survive Joyce.

In addition to her husband, Earl, a son, Victor, son-in-law, Jim Rogers, and sister, Bonnie Wright, preceded Joyce in death.
