Dahlie, Carol Ann (22 Dec. 1925 - 12 June 2000)

 

PHILLIPS -- Carol Ann Dahlie, 74, Phillips, died at her home on Mon., June 12, 2000.

She was born in Mellen on Dec. 22, 1925, the daughter of August and Anna Ohm. She was a 1944 graduate of Marshfield High School, a 1947 graduate of Joseph's School of Nursing in Marshfield, and in 1949, received her degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota. She came to Phillips in 1949, where she served as the Price County Public Health Nurse from 1949 until 1952.

She was married to Norman "Pat" Dahlie on July 14, 1951, in Colby. After her children were older she returned to work as a nurse for the Central School District and then the Nickerson Nursing Home, and then in 1968 returned to her position as the Price County Public Health Nurse until the time of her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Phillips, of the American Legion Auxiliary, of the American Red Cross, and of the Southern Price County Health Corporation. She served one term on the Price County Board of Supervisors, and she was very active in working with the National Service Corps in recruiting doctors to serve Price County. She was active in organizing public health departments in Northern Wisconsin, and in 1986, was recognized with the Wisconsin Public Health Association Basic Prevention Award for her efforts.

She is survived by four children, Dr. Peter N. (Kathryn), Phillips; Dr. John (Katherine), Shawano; Kathryn (Richard) Meyer, Menasha, and Robert (Wendy), Ayersville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; one brother, William (Beverly) Ohm, Arpin; and one sister, Kathleen Clark, Wisconsin Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, on Nov. 19, 1991; and by one infant sister, Lenore.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Sat.in the United Methodist Church, with Pastor Susan Brown officiating. Inurnment will be in the Lakeside Cemetery.

The Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, assisted the family with arrangements.
