Ponshock, Marvin Harold (15 Aug. 1926 - 12 June 2001)

PHILLIPS -- Marvin H. Ponshock, Phillips, formerly of Park Falls, passed away on Tues., June 12, 2001, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Phillips at the age of 74. He was born August 15, 1926, In Marshfield, the son of Andrew and Clara (Bendixen) Ponshock.

He moved with his family as a child to Park Falls, He attended Park Falls High School. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during WW2 in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theatres of Action from 1944 to 1946. He was married to his wife Carleen on October 20, 1955. She preceded him in death in 1998. He was employed at various occupations including Zenith Products, Schiller Park, Ill., McGee Oil Company, Franklin Park, Ill., and then from 1974 to 1988 at the John Slack Lumber Co., Park Falls. He was a member of the Dirrigl-Sawales American Legion Post No. 182, Park Falls.

He is survived by two sons: Carl and Marvin, Jr.; two daughters: Marlene and Lisen, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a brother, Floyd (Marion) Ponshock, Birnamwood. He was preceded in death by his wife Carleen in 1998, his parents, three brothers: Robert, Raymond, and Merlin, and two sisters: June Rienow and Betty Ryan.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. Sat. at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips, with Pastor Thomas Reiff of St. John Lutheran Church, officiating.

Inurnment will held at a later date at the Lakeside Cemetery, Phillips. Military Honors will be conducted by the Dirrigl-Sawales American Legion Post No. 182, Park Falls.

Friends may call at the Heindl Funeral Home, Phillips from 2 p.m. Sat.until the hour of the service.
