Lucas, George R. (8 July 1924 - 6 Mar. 2009)

George R. Lucas, 84, of Longboat Key, Fla., formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, died Fri., March 6, 2009, at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center in Longboat Key.

George was born July 8, 1924, in Lindsey. He married Alice Roginski on May 29, 1943, in Pittsville.

He owned and operated George Lucas Livestock and Equipment since 1947. In 1981, he moved to Hiram, Ga., where he owned and operated George Lucas Crane and Equipment. He retired in 2003 and resided in Longboat Key, Fla., with his wife, Alice.

George will long be remembered for his devoted love to his wife, kids, and especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, of Longboat Key, Fla.; his children: Judy (Ken) Skorik of Wisconsin Rapids, Joni Chapman of Bradenton, Florida, Tom Lucas of Tampa, Florida, and Toni Lucas of Sarasota, Florida; his sister, Adeline Dahlke of Granton; his brother, Edwin (Rosemary) Lucas of Rochester, Canada; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary's Star of the Sea in Longboat Key at 12:30 p.m. March 11. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home of Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family with local arrangements.
