Werner, Edna C. (25 Feb. 1906 - 29 June 1993)

Services for Mrs. Edna C. Werner, 87, a Marshfield resident, who died at 12:40 p.m. Tues. at Neillsville Memorial Nursing Home, will be at 1:30 p.m. Fri. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. Peter J. Leketas will officiate. Music will be provided by Mrs. Helen Brinkmann, organist, and the Men’s Trio.

Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Paul, Dennis and Roger Nikolai, Jay Werner, Roger Schumacher, Gregory Schmidt, Gary Vanderhoof and Shane Peterson.

Visitation will be at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel from 4-9 p.m. today and again Fri. until service time. A Sacred Heart Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be at 4 p.m. today followed by a parish prayer service at 7, both at the funeral chapel.

She was born Feb. 25, 1906, in Kendall, to the late Frank and Adeline (Geschke) Sotona. She attended rural Kendall schools and helped on the home farm until her marriage.

She was married to Joseph F. Werner May 17, 1937, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Hillsboro. Her husband was a more than 49-year employee for Roddis Plywood Corp., now Weyerhaeuser Co., until retiring in 1963. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987, and he died March 7, 1992.

She and her husband moved to Marshfield in 1937, and she did domestic work for various families in Marshfield. She continued to reside in Marshfield until she became a resident of Memorial Nursing Home on Dec. 30, 1988.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include one son, Raymond J. of Marshfield; one daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Helen) Nikolai of Stratford; three brothers, Roy Sotona of Racine, Lyle Sotona of Kendall and Harold Sotona of Conyers, Ga.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was also predeceased by one foster grandson, Patrick Werner, in 1978.

Memorials may be given to Marshfield Medical Foundation for Alzheimer’s Research and Parkinson’s Disease Research.
