Nelson, Rose Elinor (21 Feb. 1924 - 26 May 2009)

ARPIN -- Rose Elinor (Louis) Nelson, 85, of Arpin, passed away May 26, 2009, at the Bethel Center.

She was born Feb. 21, 1924, in Milwaukee. She was married Dec. 20, 1953, to Nickoli Nelsen in the Minneapolis Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Rose attended the Wolf Creek School, graduating in May 1938. She worked on the home farm, was a seamstress in a sewing factory, then a homemaker. She also worked as a nursing assistant in several facilities.

Rose loved to garden and plant fruit trees. Her idea of a small garden was an acre or two. She planted her last fruit trees around her mobile home in Arpin, where they are in full bloom. Rose wore out the cable on her pedal Singer sewing machine. Her last Bible is held together by duct tape and paper clips. She read it every day.

Rose enjoyed moving. She could not drive by an abandoned country home without stopping to see if she wanted to live there next.

Rose will be missed by family and friends. May God be with her on her final journey as she awaits everlasting life.

Rose is survived by one son, Reynold L. Nelsen of Arpin; two daughters, Joyce (Michael) Ellenbecker of Arpin and Daisy (Steve) Nieman of Munising, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Nickoli; her parents, Bennie R. Louis and Florence Ellen (Coon) Louis; and her son, Frederick L. Nelsen.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer. Burial will be in the New Auburn Cemetery. A private family memorial service is planned.
