Shereck, Emanuel T. (28 Dec. 1906 - 27 Jan. 1983)

Emanuel T. “Smokey” Shereck, 76, of 705 N. Maple Ave., died at 10:53 p.m. Thur. at the Marshfield Convalescent Center, where he resided since Jan. 2.

Services will be at 10:30 p.m. Mon. at St. John’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Steven J. Brice will officiate. Music will be provided by Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wesley. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Visitation at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel will begin at 3 p.m. Sun.and until service time Mon.. St. John’s parish vigil will be at 8:30 p.m. Sun.

He was born Dec. 28, 1906, in Lankin, N.D., the son of Mr. and Mrs. James (Catherine) Shereck, where he received his education. He moved to Marshfield in 1928.

He and Gertrude J. Wagner were married Aug. 19, 1939, in Dubuque, Ia. He was employed as a mechanic for Boulevard Motor Co. for 20 years and then at the Chevrolet Garage. In 1970 he retired from Weyerhaeuser Co.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his wife; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Hodney of Lankin, N.D., Mrs. Katherine Treweiler of Port Edwards, and Mrs. Minnie Matthew and Mrs. Donnie (Marcella) Szynknowick, both of Stevens Point. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas C. on Aug. 9, 1979, a daughter, his parents, a brother and a sister.
