Budd, Edna Evelyn (Marriage - Before 1956)

First Presbyterian Church was the setting for the marriage service Saturday afternoon at which vows were exchanged by Miss Edna Evelyn Budd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Budd, 214 E. Second street, and Robert Norman Coaty, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Dick, 604 S. Vine street. The pastor, the Rev. Arthur R. Oates, officiated.

In the wedding party were the bride’s sisters, Mrs. Ray Dix, Wisconsin Rapids, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Loran Robinson, Hammond, Ind., as bridesmaid; Mr. Dix, best man; Mr. Robinson, groomsman, and Susie Zuehlke, flower girl.

A scalloped bertha collar outlined the sheer nylon yoke of the bride’s white satin gown and Chantilly type lace was used on the bodice and skirt. A beaded headdress held the lace-edged finger-tip veil, and red and white roses were combined with stephanotis in the bridal bouquet.

Identically styled taffeta dresses of orchid and Nile green, respectively, were worn by Mrs. Dix and Mrs. Robinson, with matching lace peplums and yokes, accented with rhinestones. Matching gauntlets, bonnet headpieces of lace wreathed with flowers, and bouquets of white roses, white and pink asters, completed their ensembles. The flower girl wore white satin and carried red and white roses.

Gladioli were used as decorations in the church and at the bride’s home. At night a wedding dance was held at Lincoln Park, Bakerville. Among the guests were the following from out of town:

Mr. and Mrs. Sam Neve, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kresal, Manitowoc; Mr. and Mrs. Loran Robinson and daughter, Rhonda; Hammond, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lambrecht, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Tabbert and Wesly Carney, Brandon; Robert McGowen, Lodi; Miss Gladys McGowen, Fond du Lac; Roy Budd, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gryskeweiz and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gryskeweiz, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zellner, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Eckerly, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Krueger and daughter, Barbara, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dix, and son, Ray, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ryan, Wisconsin Rapids; and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Neve, daughter, Caroline, and sons, Frank and Ed, Pittsville.

After they return from a wedding trip to southern Wisconsin, the couple will live at 211 W. Fifth street. Both attended Marshfield Senior High School, and are employed in the city, the bride at the McLellan store and the groom by the A & P Company.
