Wrede, La Verne A. (Bakke) (November 24, 1936 - February 29, 2012)

Former Medford resident La Verne A. Wrede 75, Bismarck, N.D., died on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul, Minn.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 3 at Valley View Heights Assisted Living. A funeral service and burial will be held in Medford at a later date.

La Verne A. Wrede, 75, Bismarck, formerly of Medford, Wis., passed away Feb. 29, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Paul, Minn.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Valley View Heights Assisted Living, Bismarck, where she resided the past 2½ years. A funeral service and burial will held in Medford at a later date.

La Verne Bakke was born Nov. 24, 1936, at Medford, Wis., the daughter of Alvin and Lorraine (Turvey) Bakke. Except for a short period working in Chicago and Wausau, Wis., after graduating from high school, she lived in Medford her entire life until she moved to Bismarck in October 2009.

On March 24, 1956, she married Richard Wrede, who preceded her in death on July, 11, 1990.

Prior to retirement, she worked for over 40 years at Wisconsin Bottle Gas, which later became Lakes Gas, in Medford.

She is survived by her son, Brian (Renita) Wrede, Bismarck; her granddaughter, Lauren, Bismarck; her sister, Marvel (Everett) Stillman, Chico, Calif.; two brothers-in-law, Claire (Lois) Wrede, Elephant Butte, N.M., and Jim (Roxanne) Wrede, Rockford, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Marge (Art) Wild, Stetsonville, Wis., and Rosemary (Jerry) Viegut, Minneapolis,; and several nieces and nephews.
