Peterson, Richard D. (November 6, 1930 - May 28, 2011)

 

Richard D. Peterson, age 80, of Carpentersville, Ill., died on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his family.

 

Dick was born on November 6, 1930. He was the son of the late Elmer and Emma Peterson.


On June 13, 1953 he married Marilyn K. Gronfeldt. Dick was a resident of the Carpentersville area for the past 56 years. He was a former 35 year employee of United Airlines where he worked as an air freight agent. Dick was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean War.


Survivors include his daughters Joann (Paul) Larimer and Sandra Hartmann, both of Carpentersville; his grandchildren, Christina (Aaron) Gillette, Michael Hartmann, Paul Larimer and Nicholas Vardakis; his great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jacob and Dallas; and his brothers, Raymond of Michigan City, Ind., and Robert of Antioch, Ill.


Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn K. Peterson on July 24, 2003; a son-in-law, Jon H. Hartmann, on October 3, 2002; and his daughter, Gail J. Vardakis on February 4, 2011.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 2 at 11 a.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East Cemetery, East Dundee. Please omit flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belford Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Fla. 32256.
