-Glidden, Clarence M. (22 OCT 1923 - 21 NOV 1947)

Clarence Marvin Glidden Jr., who was killed Nov. 21, 1947 when struck by a train at Waukesha, was born in Polley, Wis. on Oct. 22, 1923, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Glidden Sr.

He attended grade school in Polley and graduated from the Gilman High School in 1942. He entered the military service in February 1943 and was discharged in January 1946.

On June 21, 1947 he was united in marriage to Margie Wilcenski at Gilman, and they made their home in Waukesha.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by three brothers, Vernon of Minneapolis, Leo of Waukesha and Richard of Gilman, one sister, Mrs. Charlie Nichols of Gilman.

Funeral services were held for the deceased at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Gilman on Nov. 24th at ten o’clock in the morning. Military honors were conferred at the cemetery with the presentation of the flag to Mrs. Glidden, the salute by the firing squad and taps. The ceremony was under the supervision of Mr. Marcus of Medford and Al Mravik of Gilman.

Persons from away who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Glidden, Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Glidden and Diane, Waukesha; Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Glidden, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Tio and Maurice, Mr. and Mrs. John Tio and John Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Hanson, Mrs. Cyril Abts, Waukesha; Tim Glidden and Douglas, Minnesota; Miss Josephine Wilcenski, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Milligan, Mr. and Mrs. John Wojcik, Mrs. Anne Stroinski and Leona, Mrs. Henry Czyzewicz, Mrs. Hermis Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. James Boylan, and Mrs. Harvey Ebben of Thorp.
