Neitzel, Amelia T. (August 24, 1911 - February 12, 2010)

 

Amelia T. Neitzel, 98, Medford, died Friday, Feb. 12 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she had been a patient the past four days. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Our Saviours Lutheran Church in Holway, with Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman officiating.

 

Burial was at Our Saviours Lutheran Church Cemetery in Holway. Pallbearers were her grandsons, David and Terry Buchholz, Gary Krug, Greg Allar, Brian Hallgren, Lynn Jochimsen and Jerry Brink.

 

The former Amelia Hamm was born August 24, 1911 in the Town of Hoard, Clark County, to the late Frank and Hattie (Perlberg) Hamm. She attended Hoard Center Grade School in the Town of Hoard. After her schooling, she worked on her parents' farm.

 

On September 18, 1935 in Dorchester, she married Elmer C. Neitzel, who preceded her in death on September 7, 1998. She worked as a cheesemaker in the Town of Hoard, then in 1946 they moved to the Town of Holway where they farmed until retiring in 1973.

 

She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church, honorary member of Our Saviours Ladies Group, and past member of Pine Creek Riders Snowmobile Club. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, gardening, canning, baking, especially molasses cookies and cream puffs, singing and playing Bingo.

 

Survivors include a daughter, Lorraine (George) Krug of Westboro; a sister, Adeline Neitzel of Owen; a son-in-law, Karl Buchholz of Curtiss; seven grandchildren, Debbie (Greg) Allar of Rib Mountain, Elaine (Brian) Hallgren, Dianne (Lynn) Jochimsen and Dawn (Jerry) Brink, all of Medford, David Buchholz of Eau Claire, Gary (Sara) Krug of Exeland and Terry Buchholz of Curtiss; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Thelma A. Buchholz on November 30, 2004; and four brothers, Frank, William Sr., Edward and Henry; and a sister, Hannah.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
