Vessely, Roy Earl (June 24, 1941 - May 25, 2010)

Roy Earl Vessely, 68, Westboro, died Tuesday, May 25 at his home.


Roy Vessely was born June 24, 1941 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Earl and Oda (Knudsen) Vessely. He attended grade school and high school in Leydon, Ill., graduating in 1959. He was employed at American Airlines, then served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1964 in Vietnam and earned the rank of L.Cpl.

He lived in Westboro for a short time, then moved to Chicago where he began his career with GTE as a supervisor for 34 years.


On August 19, 1994 in Lakeland, Fla., he married Patricia Doberstein, who survives. They lived in Lakeland until moving back to Westboro in 1998.


He enjoyed hunting and restoring street rods.


In addition to his wife, survivors include three step-children, Cindy (Jeff) Ludwig of Minneapolis, Minn., Jim (Becky) Rindt of Medford and David (Anna) Rindt of Broomfield, Colo.; and seven step-grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan and Andrea Ludwig, Roxanne, Rachel and Jimmy Rindt and Justin Rindt.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
