Wedin, Erna L. (Hensel) (September 26, 1914 - September 16, 2010)

Erna L. Wedin, 95, Gilman, died Thursday, Sept. 16 at Gilman Care Center, where she had resided the past 1-1/2 years.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 18 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Rev. Pete Warmanen officiating. Burial was at Perkinstown Community Cemetery in the Town of Grover. Pallbearers were Kristal and Paul Filipiak, Doug and April Graf, Ed Pinkert and Patrick Clough.


The former Erna Hensel was born September 26, 1914 in the Town of Grover to the late Richard C. and Louisa (Dunkel) Hensel. She attended Perkinstown area schools. After school she worked at Louis F. Dow in Minneapolis, Minn. as a time keeper.


On December 11, 1943 in Medford, she married Lyle H. Wedin, who preceded her in death on February 23, 1995. She was a housewife and they farmed in the Town of Grover until 1-1/2 years ago.


She enjoyed reading, listening and dancing to polka music, sitting by the campfire, going on road trips and most of all being around her family.


Survivors include a daughter, Sandy (William) Graf of the Town of Grover; a sister, Gertrude (Oliver) Pinkert of Medford; two grandchildren, Doug (April) Graf of the Town of Grover and Kristal (Paul) Filipiak of Gilman; and two great-grandchildren, Kristin and Kellvin Krizan of Gilman.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Allen in 1955; a sister, Edith Clough; and a brother, Richard.


In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to her family to be designated at a later date.
