Frey, Ruth J. (March 25, 1931 - April 4, 2010)

 

Ruth J. Frey, 79, Barron, died Sunday, April 4 at Luther Midelfort Northland Hospital in Barron.

 

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 7 at Salem Lutheran Church in Barron, with Rev. Ronald Mueller officiating. Burial was at Wayside Cemetery in Barron.

The former Ruth Shannon was born March 25, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minn., to the late Eldon and Martha (Hanson) Shannon. She was baptized on April 4, 1931 and confirmed on May 20, 1945. She graduated from Medford High School.


On February 3, 1951 in Medford, she married Ralph "Doc" Frey, who preceded her in death on December 18, 2002. She worked at an insurance company while he was going to college in Indianapolis, Ind.


She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and active in "Save the Babies" and knitted many baby caps. She enjoyed her morning coffee group.


Survivors include a son, Kirk (Julie) of Eau Claire; two daughters, Toni (Joel) Logelin of Dallas and Cathy (Tom) Chermack of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Mike Chermack, Jon Chermack, Beth Harrison, Jolene Thomsen, and Kayla, Rachel and Benjamin Frey; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.


In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant daughters; a brother, Eldon Jr.; and a sister, Patricia Nolan.

 

Rausch & Steel Funeral Home of Barron assisted the family with arrangements.
