Bullis, Jeanette Eleanor (Dewsz) (May 30, 1925 - May 22, 2009)

Jeanette Eleanor Bullis, 83, Rib Lake, died Friday, May 22 at her home while under hospice care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Rib Lake. Pallbearers are Matt Bullis, Jamie Heiser, John Douville, Dick Iverson, Jeremy Bracey and Rick Bullis. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, Molly Heiser, Braeden Bullis, Maceo Bracey, Brady Heiser and McKenna Bullis.

Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday, May 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. with a parish prayer service and rosary at 7 p.m., and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

The former Jeanette Dewsz was born May 30, 1925 in Rib Lake to the late George and Olive (Guy) Dewsz. She attended Ward Graded School and was a 1943 graduate of Rib Lake High School.

On June 3, 1944, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rib Lake, she married Wayne "Windy" Francis Bullis, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1976.

She worked at the Rib Lake Post Office, Gem Products and the Rib Lake Clinic for over 30 years as a nursing assistant for Dr. Pettera and later for Dr. Hesse.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, Rib Lake Commercial Club, Rib Lake Housing Authority, Breakfast Club, a former Girl Scout leader, past member of the Tuesday Evening Ladies Bowling League at Little Bohemia, bowled mixed couples with her husband, volunteered at church and school and assisted with the reading and computer lab. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, walking, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, traveling to Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Ga., Ireland, Disney World, Arizona and whale watching in San Diego, Calif.

Survivors include a son, Russell (Janice) Bullis of Rib Lake; a daughter, Judy Mitchell of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Brenda (Jamie) Heiser, Matthew (Christine) Bullis and Becky( Jeremy Bracey) Bullis; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald (Gertrude).

In her honor, memorial contributions may be given to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or Hope Hospice.

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
