Kennedy, Patrick Joseph (January 9, 1948 - August 3, 2009)  

 

Patrick Joseph Kennedy, 61, of Spencer, died Monday, Aug. 3 surrounded by his loved ones, after a lengthy battle with cancer. 

 

Pat was born January 9, 1948 in Park Falls to R.J. and Dorothy Kennedy. He graduated from Medford High School in 1966. 

 

Pat served as a submariner in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. He worked in the local construction industry and at Bock Industries of Spencer. He also owned and operated Pat's Little Club tavern until July 2008. Pat married the love of his life and his favorite fishing partner, Carol Hardinger on May 22, 2006. 

 

Pat enjoyed fishing, gunsmithing, pistol shoots and riding Harleys. He was a founding member and past president of the Lonely Few Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of the American Legion and the National Rifle Association. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Carol of Spencer; five brothers, Denny (Marilyn) of Tampa, Fla., Brad (Jane) of Wausau, Jim (Kathleen) of Denver, Colo., Kevin (Cindy) of Woodbury, Minn., and Kelly of Madison; one sister, Kathy (Jim) Hawkins of La Crosse; stepsons, Don and Dan Wegener; and nieces and nephews, Kevin, Catharine, Katie, Clara, Laura, Shea, Shannon, Ryan, Rachel and Colin.  

 

His parents and his niece, Katie, preceded him in death. 

 

A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Lonely Few Clubhouse in Riplinger starting at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Children's Miracle Network or the Sunshine Foundation.  

 

Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home of Spencer assisted the family with arrangements.
