Peterson, June L. (Navis) (June 11, 1933 - July 31, 2009)  

 

June L. Peterson, 76, Westboro, died Friday, July 31, under the care of her family and hospice.  

 

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 7 at First Lutheran Church in Westboro, with Rev. Bob Giese officiating. Interment was at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Westboro.

 

The former June Navis was born June 11, 1933 in Cedar Grove to the late Benjamin and Lelia (Prinsen) Navis. She attended Cedar Grove schools. 

 

On December 28, 1951 in Cedar Grove, she married Robert Lee Wieberdink, who preceded her in death on June 28, 1956.  

 

She worked at a canning factory in Cedar Grove where she met John Charles Peterson Sr., who she married on September 13, 1958 at the Little Brown Church in Dubuque, Iowa. They settled in Westboro and she logged with her husband from 1965 until retirement in 1985. She had also been employed selling Avon, at Patrick's Mink Ranch and Tombstone Pizza. 

 

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Premeau-Schauss VFW Ladies Auxiliary; past member of First Lutheran Church Ladies Aid and ladies bowling league at Little Bohemia. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, flowers, road trips to the casino, camping in Canada, knitting and cross stitch. 

 

Survivors include six children, Bonnie (Robert) Elliot of Ogema, Robert "Bob" Lee of Medford, Bruce (Cheryl), John Jr. and Vi Marie (Donnie) Nelson, all of Westboro, and Dawn (Bryan) Marschke of Rib Lake; three brothers, Roland (Audrey) of Michigan, O.J. of Mauston and Virgil (Elaine) of Sheboygan; one sister, Violet (Norman) Huibregtse of Oostburg; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. 

 

In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, John; and two sisters-in-laws, Donna Navis and Rhea Navis. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her honor may be given to the family.  

 

Dallmann-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
