Stefancin, Audrey A. (Schauer) (April 23, 1959 - September 15, 2009)  

 

Audrey A. Stefancin, 50, Medford, died Tuesday, Sept. 15 at Memorial Health Center in Medford, where she had been a patient the past week, surrounded by her family and friends.  

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Aaron Kalmon officiating. Private cremainal inurnment will take place at a later date at Northland Memorial Park in Rhinelander. Pallbearers will be Jonathon and Nick Roepke, Joshua and Christopher Wendorf, Jeff Armbrust and Rick Spanbauer. 

 

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 18 from 3 to 6:45 p.m. at the Holy Rosary Social Center (area between church and school). 

 

The former Audrey Schauer was born April 23, 1959 in Milwaukee to the late Donald and Charlotte A. (Moser) Schauer. She attended elementary school at St. Mary's Catholic School in Rhinelander and was a graduate of Rhinelander High School. 

 

On October 10, 1987 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rhinelander, she married Joseph F. Stefancin, who survives.

 

She worked at the family businesses, the Hodag Bar in Rhinelander and Schauer's Bar in Manitowish Waters. She was parish secretary for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rhinelander, director of religious education at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and later became lay pastoral associate/bookkeeper. She then was a cook's assistant at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic School in Richmond, Minn. for one year.   She worked as an administrative assistant for two years at Apri in St. Cloud, Minn., until they moved to Medford in 1999 where she was director of religious education for grades preschool through grade six at Holy Rosary Catholic School, where she was also parish secretary for over a year until the time of her death. 

 

She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Women's Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus, Christian Women's Group and Cardmaking Club. She enjoyed crafts, stamping, scrapbooking, reading, playing board games, going to Grandma's cottage in Eagle River, traveling without an agenda, cooking, and most of all being around family and friends, especially children. 

 

In addition to her husband, survivors include two children, Joey and Amanda Stefancin, both of Medford; a sister, Susan (Sam) Angel of Franklin, N.C.; mother-in-law, Deloris Stefancin of West Allis; an aunt, Ruth Skory of Minocqua; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Eileen and Kenneth in infancy. 

 

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her name and contributions may be directed in care of her family.  

 

Hemer Funeral Service of Medford assisted the family with arrangements.
