Bobbe, Jeanette M. (McNamar) (February 9, 1918 - December 18, 2009)

Jeanette M. Bobbe, 91, Medford, passed away quietly Friday, Dec. 18 at Memorial Nursing Home in Medford, where she had resided the past six months, with her family by her side.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 16 at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Pastor David Clements officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

The former Jeanette McNamar was born February 9, 1918 in the Town of Chelsea to the late George and Hattie (Stamm) McNamar. She grew up in Whittlesey, Chelsea and Medford, attended Town of Chelsea elementary schools, and graduated from Medford High School and Milwaukee School of Cosmetology. She has told her grandchildren and great-grandchildren many wonderful stories of her childhood.

In February 1941 in Winona, Minn., she married Howard Bobbe, who preceded her in death on April 5, 2003. She lived in Medford with her parents until Howard got out of the service, then they moved to Abbotsford where Jeanette opened a small beauty shop in her home. They raised their four children in Abbotsford, then moved to Medford in 1959 when Howard took over the Twin Maple Minkery after Jeanette's father passed away.

Jeanette opened a beauty shop on Main Street in Medford, which she operated for several years.

She spent her retirement years growing beautiful flowers, especially roses, baking, cooking, playing cards with her friends, enjoying time at their cottage on Sackett Lake, and loving and spoiling 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She loved being with her family and friends and they all remember her delicious sauerkraut and dumplings, homemade bread and jelly, and all the other wonderful meals that she made. She was a past member of Medford Mink Association, Medford American Legion Auxiliary and various card clubs.

Jeanette is survived by her two sons, Lester (Marlene) and Larry, both of Medford; two daughters, Kay (Marv) Broeske of Abbotsford and Linda (John) Boxrucker of Madison; a brother, Ray McNamar of Medford; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-greatgranddaughter; and companion, Melvin "Meps" Ruesch of Medford.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott E. McCarron in 1981; and a brother, Lester in 1942.

The family would like to thank Our House and Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they gave to our mother.

The family would also like to deeply thank mom's dear friend and companion, Melvin Ruesch, for being by mom's side during this long journey she has taken in the last few years. His love, devotion and compassion for her brought a unique joy and happiness to her life.
