Berger, Robert D. (14 January 1928 - 14 May 1968)

Robert D. Berger, 40, Neillsville merchant, died Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield of a heart condition. Funeral services are to be held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff will officiate. Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Berger was born January 14, 1928, in Neillsville, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur (Elsie Gehrt) Berger. He was a graduate of the 1946 class of Neillsville High School.

On November 29, 1950, he entered the army and served in Germany a year and 25 days. Following his discharge he returned to Neillsville and joined his father in the men’s clothing business. He assumed ownership of the business five years ago. He had served as treasurer of St. John’s church for many years.

Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Berger of Neillsville, a brother, Arvid (Marion) Berger, of Poughkeepsie, N. Y.; and his grandmother, Mrs. Augusta Berger of Watertown, who is 102 years of age.
