Blazek, Anton J. “Tony” (15 April 1932 - 28 January 2013) With Flag

Anton J. “Tony” Blazek, 80, of Merrillan died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, in Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse.

Tony was born in the Town of Komensky, Jackson County, to Anton and Sophia (Martinecyn) Blazek April 15, 1932. He attended school in Merrillan and Chicago, IL, and he graduate d from Alma Center High School in 1950. After graduation, he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean War. He married Lavern Rochester Oct. 6, 1956, in Merrillan.

Tony was a union carpenter until his retirement. His special interests included spending time with his family, gardening, feeding the birds and going on an occasional fishing outing.

Surviving are his wife, Lavern; his children, Anton Blazek, Hixton, Gerald (Patti) Blazek and Randy (Vickie) Blazek both of Alma Center, Susan (Frank) Werlein, Taylor and Rodney (Mary) Blazek, Black River Falls; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dorothy (John) Gerzsik, Black River Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother Stanley.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Grace Lutheran Church in Alma Center. Services were conducted by Pastor Steven Stork, and burial with military honors was in Riverside Cemetery in Black River Falls. Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (717-284-4321) 408 N. Water St., Black River Falls Thursday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.
