Quicker, James Wayne (1 June 1937 - 17 April 1968)

James Wayne Quicker, 30, of Rt. 1 Granton, died April 17 in the Veterans Hospital in Madison of injuries suffered in a motor bike accident in Neillsville two days earlier. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Grether officiated. Burial was made in the Town of Lynn Cemetery.

Mr. Quicker was born June 1, 1937, in the Town of Grant, the son of the late Reinhart Quicker and Vivian (Quicker) Schultz. He joined the Army in 1954 and served in Germany for three years. He received his discharge July 3, 1957.

He worked for seven years at the American Motors plant in Milwaukee. At the time of his death he was an employee of Inland Steel Company in Black River Falls. He was married to the former Marcia Chase.

He is survived by two sons, Daniel and David of Slinger; his mother, Mrs. Archie Schultz of rural Granton; two brothers, Walter of Neillsville and Gene of rural Granton.

Pallbearers were: Louis Gurney, Robert Struensee, Bob Richmond, Robert DeMert, James Kurasz and Gordon Zickert. “Under His Wings” and “One Sweetly Solemn thought” were sung by Ellis Wall, accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Many relatives and friends here for the funeral were from Milwaukee, Wabeno, Berlin, Brillion, La Crosse, Marshfield, Hartland, Kenosha; Hampshire, Ill.; and from the surrounding towns in this area.
