John Hoops Passes Away

John Hoops 91, who resided in this community for the past 48 years passes away at the home of his son Henry Hoops, in the Town of Sherman at 10:15 o’clock Sunday night of old age complications.

The body will lie in state at the Swarthout Funeral Home until 11:00 A. M. Thursday when it will be taken to the Trinity Lutheran Church where it will rest until funeral services which will be held there at 2:00 P. M. Rev. A. C. Stapel will officiate and burial will be made in the West Spencer cemetery.

John Hoops was born at Cedarburg, October 2, 1855, and was married to Miss Pauline Natzke on Feb. 28, 1878 at Wayside. Mrs. Hoops preceeded [sic] him in death.

He is survived by four sons, Henry, Martin and Ervin Hoops, Spencer; Herbert Hoops, Fond du Lac; five daughters, Mrs. Albert (Lydia) Vanderhoof, Spencer; Mrs. Harry (Sabina) Graham, Sycamore, Ill., Mrs. Frank (Elsie) Martin, Fremont; Mrs. Lela Molle, Unity; Mrs. William (Renata) Plath, Spencer; 32 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Four children precede him in death.
