Weis-Gennett

Saturday morning, April 26, at 9:30 a. m. at Christ The King Catholic Church, occured [sic]
the wedding of Miss Joann Emma Gennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark E. Gennett, Marshfield route 3, and Edward William Weis, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Weis, Spencer route 1. The Rev. Bernard Henry officiated at the nuptial Mass and Mrs. Voss played the organ.

Miss Gennett wore an entrained white silk chiffon gown inserted with lace. A sweetheart headdress held her long veil edged with lace and she carried a shower bouquet of white lilies.

Miss Esther Gennett, sister of [t]he bride, in a white taffeta frock with a net overskirt and deep yoke, was maid of honor. The bridesmaid, Miss Dorothy Hrdinger, the grooms [sic] cousin wore a similar frock. Both carried yellow carnations and red roses tied with blue tulle.

Robert Endreas, the bride’s uncle, and Rapheal Weis, brother of the groom, were best man and groomsman. Roger Gennett, a brother of the bride, carried the ring in a calla lily tied with blue ribbon.

Patricia Ann Weis, the bridegrooms [sic] sister and Rhoda Lee Moslavac, dressed in floor length satin and nylon net dresses with rose buds holding their headdresses and forming corsages that were pinned to their frocks, were flower girls.

After the ceremony dinner was served followed by a reception and supper for 175 guests at the Gennett home decorated in pink, blue and white streamers. A large wedding cake centered the bride’s table. 80 guests attended the dinner. That evening a dance was held at the Eagles hall in Marshfield.

Mr. Weis graduated from the Spencer high school in 1948 and is engaged in farming. His wife attended school here also and has been employed for the past year by the Dairy Belt Cheese and Butter Co.

They will reside on the grooms [sic] farm five miles east of here.
