Baxter, Wallace (Loses Arm - OCT 1917)

Wallace Baxter, a former residing on the Ray Ure farm near Chili (Clark Co., Wis.), had the misfortune to lose his left arm while cutting wood with a circle saw last Tuesday afternoon. It seems that the saw, which is fastened to a table, became loose and Baxter went to tighten it. He then proceeded with his work again. Whether he slipped and lost his balance or whether his clothes caught in the saw, is not known, but he came in contact with the saw in such a manner as to saw off his left arm between the elbow and wrist. Dr. Housley was summoned and gave the man first aid, then assisted by Freeman Dankemyer, took the injured to the Marshfield Hospital where at last report he is doing nicely.
