Volovsek, Frank, Sr. (10 February 1889 - 24 January 1968)

Frank Volovsek, Sr., 78, of Willard, died Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he was admitted January 18. Funeral services were held January 27 from the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard, with the Rev. William Nikolai officiating. Burial took place in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Volovsek was born February 10, 1889, in Gornyigrad, Yugoslavia. He came to the United States in 1912 and settled in Milwaukee, where he lived until 1928. He was united in marriage to Anna Flis on July 25, 1924, in West Allis. Mr. and Mrs. Volovsek lived on a farm near Willard until his retirement 17 years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1964. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.

Survivors include: his wife; seven sons: Joseph and Stanley of Greenwood, Frank, Jr., Alphonse and William of Willard, Anton of Milwaukee, and John of Superior; four daughters, Mrs. John (Mary) Staut of La Crosse, Mrs. Anton (Margaret) Jeras of Milwaukee, Mrs. Max (Ann) Lahrman of Marshfield and Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Fraid of Milwaukee; four sisters in Yugoslavia: Christine, Amelia, Josephine and Mary; 41 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were all grandsons: Edward Volovsek, David Volovsek, Steven Volovsek, Lavern Volovsek, Victor Staut and Robert Jeras.

Relatives from away attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Anton Volovsek and family of Franklin; Mr. and Mrs. John Volovsek and family of Superior; Mr. and Mrs. John Staut and family of La Crosse; Anton Jeras and children of Brookfield; Mr. and Mrs. Max Lahrman and family of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Fraid of West Allis; and others from Franklin, Brookfield, Elm Grove, West Allis, La Crosse, Milwaukee, Madison, Hadley, Stanley, Arpin, Marshfield, Neillsville, Loyal and Greenwood.
