SPENCER, WISCONSIN

L. Dygart went to Minneapolis Monday night to see his son James. 'Born to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer B. Smith Thursday, Oct. 12, & daughter. Len Oygart and wife of Binan are visiting his parents for a few days.

Miss Kathryn Pillippi of Colby called on Mrs. P. W. Heath Monday morning.

N. F. Koerner went to his home in Hillier, Ohio last week for a few weeks vacation.

Mrs. DeLovely visited relatives at Unity, Wis. last week and returned to the home of Earl Holmes Saturday.

Mrs. G. E. Vandercook of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was a guest at the home of Mrs. L. K. Richardson Wednesday.

The Ladies Aid Society cleared over nineteen dollars at a chicken pie supper Wednesday evening at the G.A.R. Hall.

Mrs. R. B. Johnston and Mrs. R. Zulllman and daughter of Colby calls on Spencer friends Wednesday.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bodle, Thursday, Oct. 12, a daughter. The child was too frail for earth and passed away about an hour after birth.

Mrs. S. C. Plomer left Monday for Lincoln, Neb., in response to telegram from her son-in-law, E. E. Gustin, stating that his son, Plomer has typhoid fever.

Jos. Welch, who has been visiting his brother Thos. for the past two months, left Sunday for his home in Missouri, accompanied by his brother, who went for a visit.

J. D. Graves took the following automobile party to Thorp Thursday to attend a district convention of the W. R. C.: Mrs. J. D. Graves, Mrs. Bert Reas and Miss Rispa Crowell. Mrs. A. W. Stewart also attended the convention going on the train.

Mrs. Fred Straub (former Julia E. Butler, b. 22 May 1858, daughter of Thomas & Joanna) of Unity, Wisconsin spent Saturday with Spencer friends. She was on her way home from Duluth where she attended her sister's (Genevieve Butler Vincent, 1844 - Oct. 1911) funeral.

Mr. Frank Schwantes died Friday at the home of his son Ferdinand after a prolonged illness due to general debility and declining years. He was seventy-nine year of age. He is survived by eight children all of whom are grown to manhood and womanhood. The funeral was held at the Lutheran church Sunday afternoon, Rev. Schmidt officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Meacharn mourn the loss of their son. Leonard, who died quite suddenly Friday night of heart failure. For the past two years he has not been well, being a sufferer from asthma and spent one winter in the west hoping to regain health. The deceased was twenty-nine years old and a young man of exemplary habits. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon at Hope Chapel, Rev. D. S. Householder officiating, and singers from the village assisting. The sorrowing relatives have the sincere sympathy of the many friends.

Mrs. Aug. Raabe and two children returned from Burnett Junction last Tuesday.

Miss Rose Hansen went to Waupun Tuesday night for a two weeks visit with friends.

Mrs. George Tardiff and daughter, Rosie, of Stevens Point were Spencer callers Friday.

Mrs. Thos. Dygart of Thorp came Friday and spent a few days here among relatives.

The section crews of Spencer, Atwood, Osborn and Owen met Sunday to consider the organizing of a union.

Mr. and Mrs. Vass and two children of Barron have been guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Varney the past week.

Mrs. Ed Olson and daughter, Marguerite, of Chippewa Falls spent a few hours in our village (Marshfield, Wis.) Saturday morning.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brusewitz went to New Richmond Sunday where they will take charge of the County poor farm.

Vin Dygart of Pasco, Washington spent Wednesday here with his parents.  He is a train dispatcher on the Northern Pacific.

Mrs. Thos. March of Sheridan, Oregon arrived Sunday night and will visit her mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Reas, for some time.

Will Roth and family of Colby and Otto Heintz and family of Cherokee were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs, A Wendel.

Mrs. Fred Straub of Unity, Wisconsin spent Saturday with Spencer friends. She was on her way home from Duluth where she attended her sister's funeral.

Mrs. A. Hartzman spent several days of last week in Milwaukee and Chicago buying goods for their new store. Her father, A. Masolnek of Fair-water accompanied her.

The morning collection at the M. E. church next Sunday will be sent to Black River Falls for tie aid of the M. E. church at that place and for its members who were victims of the recent flood.
