Seif, Mary Jane (28 February 1918 - 12 January 2013)

Mary Jane Seif, 94, of Marshfield, formerly of Neillsville, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Funeral services for Mary Jane will be held at 11 .m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pastor Bill brown will officiate. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

The Gesche Funeral Home is assisting Mary Jane’s family with funeral arrangements.

Mary Jane Seif, 94, of Marshfield (formerly of Neillsville) died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Mary Jane Nesbitt was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Chicago, IL, to James B. and Catherine (Mclean) Nesbitt. She entered grade school in Chicago, and in 1924, spent a year in Glen Shee, Scotland, where she attended elementary school. The family moved to the Town of York in 1928. She graduated from Neillsville High School in 1935. She was employed as a stenographer in the Clark County Pension Department.

She married D. Dale Seif April 24, 1938, in Augusta. Dale was engaged in business with his father Charles and brother Chester Seif, operating C. E. Seif and Sons implement businesses in Neillsville and Augusta. When Charles retired in 1946, Mary Jane and Dale purchased the Neillsville business and operated it until the time of Dale’s death in 1981.

Mary Jane was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Clark County Historical Society and the Red Cross for many years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ and the Circle of Friends. She was also active in the sewing circle. She enjoyed travel, needlework and spending time with her friends and family.

Her brother Martin Nesbitt of Las Cruses, NM, and many nieces and nephews survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, D. Dale; and a brother, Alexander Nesbitt.

Casketbearers were Denise Teefey, Candace Nesbit, Jim Nesbitt, Robert Workinger, Ronald Seif and Don Quicker.

Funeral services for Mary Jane were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Bill Brown officiated. Music was provided by Eileen Zank, organist, and Corrine Armitage, soloist. Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
