Handke, Elmer F. (2 October 1909 - 15 December 1967)

Elmer F. Handke, 58, of Rt. 1, Granton, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield Friday evening, having suffered an apparent heart attack at his home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton. The Rev. Roland Roehrs of Zion Lutheran Church officiated. Burial was made in the Lynn Cemetery.

Mr. Handke was born October 2, 1909, in the Town of Lynn and had been a lifelong resident of that area. He had been employed on construction work for many years. He was married August 16, 1933, in Neillsville to the former Louise Geisler.

Mr. Handke is survived by his wife; six children, Iyon of Plover, Eldon of Irrigon, Ore., Mrs. Robert (Laura Lee) Zank of Rochester, Minn., Elmer, Buster and Cheryl, at home; and by six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Leland, Fred, Merle and Donald Bartsch, Don Adams and Louis Helm.
