Kallio, Grace F. (17 MAY 1925 - 9 JAN 2013)

Grace F. Kallio, age 87, of Owen, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11:30 AM at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Pastor Bonnie Cain will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church in Withee. Burial will follow the service at the Riverside Cemetery, Withee.

Grace was born May 17, 1925 to Fred and Lydia (Patitz) Pudlas. She graduated from Owen High School in 1942. Grace was joined in marriage to Toivo Kallio on June 16, 1945 in Curtiss. They had four children: Ronald, John, Daniel, and Deborah. Grace and Toivo were married 57 ½ years. They farmed north of Owen from 1950 to 1970. Grace also taught Title 1 Program at the Owen-Withee Elementary from 1965 until her retirement in 1988. Grace and Toivo sold the farm and moved into Owen in 1986.

Grace was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Hillcrest Homemakers and both the Tri-County and Wisconsin Retired Educators Associations. Family was very important to Grace. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She liked to knit, crochet, and bake.

Grace is survived by her sons, Ronald (Mary) Kallio of Wheeler, WI and Daniel Kallio of Houston, TX, and her daughter, Deborah (Ed) Riley of Waukesha, WI. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Kari (Jeremy) Guth, Brad Kallio, and Andrew (Rachel) Kallio; along with three great grandchildren: Morgan and Haleigh Guth, and Sawyer Kallio.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: John Pudlas, Esther Thompson, and Dorothy Marcott; her son, John Kallio, and her husband, Toivo.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is assisting the Kallio family with funeral arrangements.
