McKenzie, Hugh (1863 - 29 MAR 1890)

Hugh McKenzie, of Loyal, Clark County, aged 26, son of the late Daniel McKenzie, was killed by a falling tree on the 29th of March, 1890, while working in a camp of the Phillips Lumber Co., in Price County. The deceased belonged to a much respected family of eight sons and two daughters, who remained to be a stay and comfort to their aged mother. His younger brother, Alexander, was only a short distance away at the time of the accident. The funeral took place from the M.E. Church in Loyal on Wednesday, Rev. W. T. Henren, of this city, conducting the services, assisted by Rev. Philpott of Loyal. The audience was large, the flowers were beautiful, the hymns were well chosen and the singing was good. A large number of young men were present, showing a marked respect for their departed friend. All in all, it was an occasion long to be remembered.
