Luchterhand, William R. (14 JUL 1897 - 6 MAR 1985)


William R. "Bill" Luchterhand, 87, of 410 Peach Ave., died at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 1985 at Marshfield Convalescent Center, where he resided since September.

Services were at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 9, at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville. The Rev. Dale E. Freeberg officiated. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery. Grandsons and nephews were pallbearers. Hanson funeral Home was in charge.

He was born July 14, 1897, in Loyal, Clark County, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Alvina Wehling) Luchterhand, and received his education in Town of Sherman Schools. He was raised in the Town of Sherman, Clark County, and worked on the home farm with his brother. He also was employed at Spokeville Cheese Factory. In 1925 he moved to the Town of Lincoln and farmed until 1947 and then moved to Marshfield. He was employed here by Boson Construction and then Rollohome Corp. until retiring at age 72.

While living in the Town of Lincoln he served on the Town Board and was treasurer of Lone Elm School.

On Aug. 18, 1920, in Veefkind he married Elsie Krasselt she died Dec. 22, 1956. He married Lucille Morgan Sept. 25, 1965, at Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville. She survives.

A member of Grace Lutheran Church, he also is survived by a son, Norman W. Luchterhand of Marshfield a daughter, Mrs. Delmar (Margie) Sternitzky of Spencer a step-daughter, Mrs. Murial (Jeanette) Hughs of Valdosta, Ga. six grandchildren three great-grandchildren four step-grandchildren two step-great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Elsie Herdrich of Loyal and Mrs. Edward (Elizabeth "Lizzie") Greeler of Neillsville.

He was also predeceased by a brother.
