Dommer, Delphin C. (5 May 1922 – 19 December 2020)

Delphin C. Dommer, age 98, of Colby, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 19, 2020 under the care of Heartland Hospice at the Waterford Assisted Living Center, Colby.

Delphin was born May 5, 1922, the son of Carl and Dorothea (Hahn) Dommer, in North Dakota. He graduated from Colby High School. Delphin then went into farming with his three brothers and formed Arlendel Farms, Inc. On August 27, 1949 he was united in marriage to Ruby Anne Justman at Zion Lutheran Church, Colby. Together they farmed their farm in the Town of Hull until their retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Delphin enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ruby after they sold the farm. He also became quite a skilled carpenter, making many wood furniture items for his family in his retirement. Delphin also worked part time for Harmony Cooperative. After he retired he drove fertilizer truck each spring for many years.

Delphin is survived by his five children: Jerry “Father Ian” of Collegeville, MN, Judy (Alan) Stehlik of Pleasant Prairie, David (Mary) Dommer of Colby, Dennis (Pam) Dommer of Marshfield and Debby (Darrell) Lueth of Medford; ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ruby; his parents; two brothers, Leonard and Arvin and one sister, Leona.

A Public Visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. A private family Service will follow. The Rev. Shawn Andersen will officiate. Interment to follow at Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends can watch the service live on the funeral home’s Facebook page or after service anytime on Facebook or the website. We encourage those in attendance to abide by the Covid-19 guidelines by sanitizing, wearing a mask (if able) and social distancing.
