Graffunder, Eugene L. (26 July 1931 – 29 November 2020)

Eugene L. Graffunder, 89, of Abbotsford, passed away at Rolling Hills Nursing Home in Sparta on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

Gene was born on July 26, 1931, the son of Benny and Lydia (Schauer) Graffunder. He was united in marriage to Ruth Carlson on January 20, 1956. She preceded him in death April 9, 2019. Together they farmed in the Town of Holton.

Gene taught himself to play the concertina and played in a band called Gene’s Polkateers then later, Country Varieties. He played for hundreds of wedding and other events over the years. Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gene is survived by three sons: Terry Graffunder of Abbotsford, Jody (Bobbi) Graffunder of Eau Claire and Gene (Kim) Graffunder of Sparta; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Leonard and Arlene, his wife, Ruth; his daughter, Sharon Minett and his grandson, Andy Lindberg.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
