That there is a healthy interest manifested in the pickle plant proposition by
the farmers of this vicinity is evidence by the fact that about 125 were in
attendance at the meeting at the woodmen Hall Wednesday afternoon.
The proposition was thoroughly explained by Mr. Ardern, the company’s
representative. No doubt, many have been giving the matter careful thought since
the matter was first presented in these columns, for there seemed to be a lively
and intelligent interest shown by those present.
Over thirty-five acres were pledged in the afternoon, and as we go to press, the
number has reached 40 ½ acres. This acreage is promised by 44 different men.
Mr. Ardern expressed himself as highly pleased with the outcome of the meeting
and says that prospects of the plant being built here are very good.
Further work of securing contracts has been place in the hands of local men at
Rossman Steiger Company, the Big Store, City Drug Store, and Arends Brothers.
It is hope a sufficient acreage will be pledged readily and the plant secured
for this section.
