Joanne M. Fredrickson, 74, of Neillsville died Dec. 27, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.

Joanne M. Fredrickson was born Aug. 22, 1938 to Phillip T. DeRemer and Mary E. Frusher in Brooklyn, WI. Her school years were spent in Belleville and Monroe, graduating from Monroe High School in 1955 at the age of 16. After graduation, she was employed at the Joseph Viney Law Office as a legal secretary.

She moved to Milwaukee with her family in 1957 and was employed at A. O. Smith Corporation as a secretary. In 1958, she was married to William L. Chambers and moved to Granton. To this union three daughters were born, Debra, Dawn and Diane. The marriage ended in 1971.

In 1973, Joanne married a widower, Eugene K. Fredrickson, with four daughters, Becky, Darci, Kristy and Karla. Being a step-mother and step-father did not occur to Eugene and Joanne. They had seven daughters.

Joanne loved bowling and golf. She was pretty good at one spot and not so good at the other. Joanne was employed in many positions while raising her family - Loyal Foods, Land O’Lakes, Farmers & Merchants Bank, the TRG and for 16 years with Meridian Group Inc.

While living in Loyal for 20 years, Joanne was active in the community, serving on the “welcome Wagon,” singing in St. Anthony’s choir, taking her turn as president of the bowling association, active in the Loyal Women’s Study Group, planning Halloween parties at the school and helping with many Corn Festival parades.

Upon retiring in 2000, Joanne volunteered at The Highground for five years. She also spent many hours crocheting lap robes for veterans.

Joanne is survived by daughters, Debra (Dave) Goldbach of Eau Claire, Diane (Mark) Selz of Riverbank, CA, Becky (Jerome) Rossman of Marshfield, Darci Mahoney of Neillsville, Kristy (Jeff) Sischo of Neillsville and Karla (Mark) Pfuhl of Marshfield; 12 grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Jordyn, Daniel (Katie), Justine, Danielle (Michael), Dillon, Derek, JC, Dustin (Kayla), Tyler and Teeghan; eight great-grandchildren, Janaya, Graci, Emma, Desirae, Roman, Corbin, Autumn and Eli; three sisters, Rosemary Maske, Paulette (Larry) Miller, Phyllis Pritchard; one brother, Phillip (Vanessa) DeRemer; and two sisters-in-law, Sandy (Dennis) Vestweber and Shari Dakin.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Dawn E. Soma in 2001; husband Eugene K. Fredrickson in 2003; and brother-in-law Ordean F. Fredrickson in 2008.

A Celebration of Life for Joanne will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Pastor Joe Weiers will officiate. Following services, a luncheon will be held at Apple Valley Restaurant.
