Edblom, Colene A (10 JUL 1963)

Wedding vows were repeated Saturday, July 10, 1963, in a double ring ceremony of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Colby, by Miss Colene Ann Edblom and Bernard C. Stuttgen. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arlyn Edblom, Colby, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Stuttgen, Colby.

The Rev. Ambrose Blenker officiated at the nuptial high mass which was performed at 10:30 a.m. The altars were decorated with bouquets of gladiolas, snow balls and phlox. Music was furnished by the children's choir and Miss Carol Rae Edblom, soloist. Miss Edblom sang "The Lord's Pray" preceding the wedding ceremony.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, appeared before the altar attired in a white silk organza floor length bridal gown with a fitted bodice of Chantilly lace and featured a jewel trimmed Sabrina neckline and long sleeves. The full hoop skirt of silk organza over taffeta and nylon net was fashioned with a lace panel both front and back which was trimmed with bows and revealed a scalloped lace flounce at the hemline. Her fingertip French illusion veiling was secured to a queen's crown of pearl and aurora borealis. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of yellow roses and white stephanotis with white streamers to which were attached yellow roses.

Attending the bride as maid of honor was her sister, Miss Carol Rae Edblom, and her bridesmaids were Miss Dolores Stuttgen, sister of the groom, and Miss Joanne Will, cousin of the bride. All three were attired in tangelo rust street length formals of silk organza over taffeta with fitted bodices and bateau necklines. The controlled skirt of each was fashioned by a side front draped with a small bow at the waistline and completed with a larger bow in back. Their headpieces were matching flower clips with pearl trim and halo veils.

The maid of honor carried a cascade bouquet of white, yellow and rust tinted pompons trimmed with white streamers. The bridesmaids carried similar bouquets of white and rust tinted pompons. Jill Schilling, Abbotsford, cousin of the bride, was flower girl, and her white floor length gown was of silk organza over taffeta. She carried a basket of white and yellow pompons.

The ring bearer was Perry Edblom, cousin of the bride.

Donald Stuttgen, brother of the groom, attended as best man. Groomsmen were Ray Stuttgen and Larry Stuttgen, brothers of the groom.

Ushers were Donald Will, uncle of the bride and Tony Stuttgen, brother of the groom.

The altar boys who served for the nuptial mass were all brothers of the groom: Charles, Melvin, James and John Stuttgen.

Following the ceremony, dinner was served at St. Mary's gymnasium for 225 guests. The floral arrangement for the bride's table had for its theme "They Have No Wine." The symmetrical pattern used in its formality and regal appearance was epecially fitted for the occasion of a marriage feast, an event of great importance, and the setting fro the first miracle Jesus performed. The empty wine bottle of red and clear glass helped to tell the sotry of His turning water into wine. The inclusion of grapes in the arrangement has significance, since from them was made the wine with which Jesus symbolized His blood in the First Communion. The arrangement consisted of white gladiolas, Stocks, chrysanthemums, pompon dahlias with ivy and galax leaves for foliage. The deep coral accent was introduced by Cacti Dahlias. The arrangement was made and presented to the bride and groom by Mrs. Anthony L. Schemmer.

The reception was held at the Sportsmen's Park for 400 guests. Duane Hanson and Wayne Truchinski provided entertainment. Duane Hanson and Carol Edblom also sang at the reception.

A dance was held in the evening at Dorchester Memorial Hall.

The bride and the groom, both graduates of Colby High School, also attended Northland College, Ashland, where the bride is affiliated with Correna Nu Omega sorority and the groom with the Phi Sigma Epsilon National Fraternity. The groom is a 1963 graduate of Northland. After August 20, the newlyweds will be at home at Seneca where the groom has accepted a position coaching and teaching in the Seneca High School. The new Mrs. Stuttgen will do her studen teaching in the Seneca elementary system this fall to complete her degree.

Guests who attended were from Two Harbors and Minneapolis, Minn., Ironwood, Mich., Chicago, Round Lake and Downer's Grove, Ill., Madison, Kenosha, Ashland, Mellen, Eau Claire, Stanley, Gilman, Thorp, Chetek, Oshkosh, Tomahawk, Boyd, Milwaukee, Janesville, Wis.
