Arends, Andrew/Anna (Gold - 20 APR 1963)

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Arends observed their golden wedding anniversary Saturday, April 20, 1963, at the open house in the city hall in Colby. Many friends and relatives attended the occasion to honor the couple.

Adorning the wedding cake were gold roses and leaves appropriate for the attained anniversary. The cake was served during the afternoon reception. The guests enjoyed visiting and playing cards during the day and dancing in the evening.

Andrew Arends and Anna Knier were united in marriage on April 20, 1913, at St. Mary's Church in Hilbert, with Father Oswald officiating at the ceremonies. They began farming east of Colby and continued to farm until retirement in 1960, when they moved into Colby. They are the parents of six children; Leonard of Marshfield, Irene (Mrs. Lawrence Heeg) of Hewitt, John of Milwaukee, Walter, just returned home from the Navy, Andrew and Leona at home.

There are eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

All of the children and grandchildren were present for the anniversary celebration. Mrs. Arend's sister, Mrs. Lena Endries of St. Nazianz, and Mr. Arend's brother, Joe of Fredonia, were in attendance, along with numerous guests from out of town and the entire surrounding community.
