Schmitt, Ruth Eileen (Turner) (1 DEC 1923 - 17 SEP 2012)

Ruth Eileen Schmitt, age 88, of Colby, passed away Monday, September 17, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.

Ruth was born December 1, 1923 to Warren and Fannie (Meacham) Turner in Owatonna, Minnesota. After the death of her mother in 1929, Ruth came to live with her aunt and uncle, Frank and Maggie Seefeld of rural Spencer.

She graduated from Neillsville High School. On December 19, 1944, Ruth and Wilbur Schmitt were married at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in unity. They resided in the Town of Hull and later moved to Colby. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church, Colby.

She is survived by two sons: David (Carol) Schmitt of Willard and Robert (Brenda Danielson) Schmitt of Rib Lake; one daughter, Gayle (Ronald) Beisner of Colby, six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and eighteen step great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur, her parents, one sister, Arvilla, one brother, William, her special second parents, and her special brothers, Hugh and Walter Seefeld.

The Maurina Schilling Funeral Home of Abbotsford is assisting the family with arrangements for a private funeral.

Memorial may be given in Ruth’s name to Zion Lutheran Church in Colby.
