Wieigus, Wally (5 FEB 1890 - 10 APR 1963)

Wally Wieigus, a former resident of Polley, died at the Veterans hospital at Des Moines, Ia., April 10, 1963 of a heart attack following surgery. He was 77 years old.

Military funeral services were held April 13 at the Gilman Funeral Home, the Rev. Matla officiating, and the Lublin and Gilman Legion posts participating. Interment was in Meadow Brook Cemetery at Gilman.

Pallbearers were Walter Hendzel, Joe Penk, Stanley Lis, Joe Pancyrz, Ed Budriss and Edward Jasinski.

Mr. Wieigus was born in Poland Feb. 5, 1890, and came to this county in 1911, settling at Polley in the Gilman area. He entered the army in July 1918, serving with Company 10, 161 Depot Brigade, and had been a resident of the Veterans Hospital since 1922. A brother Lawrence preceded him in death in 1924. His only survivor is a niece, Mrs. Leon Dus of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.).
