Cassavant, Mary Lou (4 AUG 1962)

The altar of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Amery, Wis. was decorated with white roses and lavender gladiolas for the marriage of Miss Mary Lou Cassavant and Richard S. Oldroyd. Rev. Father Hess performed the eleven a.m. double ring ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 4th, 1962. The church choir sang the Mass.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Archille Cassavant, Amery, Wis., and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oldroyd, Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a wedding dress of white lace styled with fitted bodice, 3/4 length sleeves and un-pressed pleats falling from the waist to a floor length gown forming a train. An Alaigh bow fell from the back waist trimmed with crystal and pearls. Also a crown of crystals and pearls held her fingertip veil. She carried a bouquet of red roses with white stephanotis.

Paula Moranchek, the groom’s niece, was maid of honor, and bridesmaid was Mrs. Marilyn Severson, friend of the bride. They wore identical dresses of rose taffeta covered with light rose nylon. The fitted bodice had rounded necklines and cummerbunds with bell shaped skirts. They carried white mums and gladiolas.

Attending the groom were Louis Oldroyd, brother of the groom, and Archille Cassavant Jr., brother of the bride. Ushers were William Oldroyd, brother of the groom, and Roland Belisilie, cousin of the bride.

A reception for 100 guests was held in St. Joseph’s Church basement.

The bride attended Wis. State College, Superior, and is a teacher at Clear Lake School. The groom attended Wis. State College, Eau Claire, and Illinois Wesleyan University, and is a Science teacher at Clear Lake Schools.

After a wedding trip to the Twin Cities, the couple will make their home at Amery, Wis.
