Mrs. Edmund Kuester, aged 57 years, who had been a resident of the town of Unity for 23 years, died at her home, one mile east of Riplinger, last Thursday morning.  She was taken ill with a stroke of paralysis the day before her death.

Mrs. Kuester, nee Hattie Franz, was born in Waco, Tex. on Jan. 2, 1885, the daughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Herman Franz.  The family lived in Texas for several years before moving to the town of Ridgeley, Nicollet county, Minn.  She was educated in Jordan, Minn. and graduated from Litchfield, Minn., high school.  On Feb. 18, 1904, she was married to Edmund Kuester in St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran church, town of Ridgeley, with her father officiating.  The couple lived in the towns of Wellington and Martinsburg for a few years before coming to the town of Unity.  Mrs. Kuester was a life member of the Women’s Missionary Federation of American Lutheran Churches and a member of the Ladies Aid society of St. John Lutheran church in Riplinger.

Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Rueben Rex of town of Unity; eight sons, Arthur, Helmuth, Edgar and Otto of Milwaukee; Arnold of Akron, Iowa; Rev. Immanuel, Kellogg, Idaho; Victor of Waverly, Iowa, and Wilbert at home.  A son preceded her in death.  Three grandchildren, a brother, Charles F. Franz of Crookston, Minn., and two sisters, Mrs. Mina Engel of Watertown and Mrs. Fred Mayer of Fairfax, Minn., also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kuester were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock in St. John Evangelical church in Riplinger with the Rev. Gerhardt Reiff, pastor, officiating.  Burial was made in the church cemetery.
